Property Agents Board Executive Officer Appointment

The statutory authority regulating the real estate industry in Tasmania, the Property Agents Board has appointed Gina Gunn as Executive Officer.

Gina brings to the role deep expertise in tertiary education and Vocational Education & Training, finance, accounting, hospitality and tourism, across the corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors.

Her diverse career choices have been driven by her personal and professional passions – education, people development, strategic design, and operational implementation, change capitalisation, and the integration of collaborative partnerships to deliver sustainable and impactful results.

Gina’s professional roles most significantly with Federal Group, the Australian Institute of Management, CPA Australia and now as Executive Officer of the Property Agents Board have been supplemented by Board director appointments to government and not-for-profit boards and most recently as a member of the University of Tasmania’s Industry Advisory Board.

“I am excited to be leading the Property Agents Board, working in conjunction with the Board in shaping a regulatory environment where the industry is operating at the highest standard expected by consumers; where preservation of the public interest, integrity in the market and fair competition is ensured.”

Meet the Team

Executive Officer
The Executive Officer is responsible for providing advice and assistance to the Board in its day-to-day operations.  The Executive Officer is also responsible for ensuring that the Board’s policies and strategies for regulating the property industry are implemented and monitored.

The Executive Officer is also the Registrar of the Property Agents Tribunal, Secretary of the Property Agents Trust, and the Board’s Right to Information Officer.

Business Operations Manager
The Business Operations Manager is responsible for administrative running of the day to day operations and overseeing all staff in the Hobart Office, under the direction of the Executive Officer.  Acting as second in charge to the Executive Officer, she plays a particular role in providing guidance and review of the Board’s complaints and investigation management and licensing functions with a keen interest in policy and procedure operation.

Board Inspector
The Board Inspector conducts state-wide inspections of the trust accounts and statutory records of general auctioneers, real estate agents and property managers.

Complaints and Investigation Officers
Complaints and Investigation Officers conduct assessments and prepare reports and initial action for the Board regarding complaints.

As directed by the Board, the Complaints and Investigation Officers conduct investigations, or facilitate more complex investigations, and prepare reports on them for the Board.

The Complaints and Investigation Officers are required to maintain effective communication and relationships with complainants and other parties, including the preparation of necessary correspondence and dealing with telephone enquiries relating to complaints.

Education, IT and Project Facilitator
The Education, IT and Project Facilitator is responsible for the management of examinations and education in the industry, as well as ongoing improvements to IT systems.

They facilitate the booking, running and marking of examinations for those looking to enter the property agents industry. They also manage the continuing professional development of licensed agents to ensure ongoing learning and education.

Their role also oversees changes and advances in the Board's IT systems to improve accessibility for all stakeholders.

Licensing Coordinator
The Licensing Coordinator is responsible for the management of the licensing system for property agents established by the Property Agents and Land Transactions Act 2016.

The Licensing Coordinator assesses applications in each licence category and maintains the registers.  She tracks legislative compliance of property agents and manages that correspondence.

Operations Officer
The Operations Officer provides the initial point of contact for face-to-face, telephone and email enquiries as well as providing administrative support across all aspects of the Board’s functions (and a key role in assisting in complaints and investigations management).

Regulatory Compliance Officer
The Regulatory Compliance Officer contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the Property Agents Board, and the critical role the PAB plays in the regulatory stewardship of the Tasmanian real estate industry.

Regulatory compliance is important in upholding the integrity of property agents, agent businesses and subsequently the collective real estate industry in Tasmania. Regulatory oversight of the industry through compliance activity, balanced with industry engagement and education contributes to protecting public interest as well as stakeholder interest. It ensures that property agents and their businesses operate fairly and ethically.

Project Officer
The Project Officer provides assistance to the Board and the Executive Officer on the planning and implementation of major projects. Included in this is the updating of procedures, policies and legislative updates.
